Today, I want to do something different. Instead of talking to another six-figure success, I want to turn my attention to you.

I want you to know that this year is the best to start taking action!

There’s never been a better time to get funding for your product idea. You no longer need to save money for years to have a shot at creating something incredible.

While you might argue that Kickstarter is more saturated than ever, don’t let that be your excuse for not taking action.

In this episode of Crowdfunding Demystified, I want to tell you two things:

  • Why 2022 is the best time for action
  • The first steps to take to build a successful crowdfunding campaign

After listening to this, I want you to be inspired—so inspired that you’ll stop making excuses and take the first step!

You never know when something will change your life if you haven’t tried it. And who knows, maybe you’ll be the next crowdfunding success!

So take out your pen and paper, and enjoy the listen.

Here’s the thing!

No matter how much you prepare for a crowdfunding campaign, you can never guarantee success. And if it’s your first time, then quite likely, your campaign will fail—the money and effort you’ve put in, all for nothing.

This might suck, but you shouldn’t feel bad about yourself. It’s all part of the process. You’ll just have to try the campaign again, and you might find success.

That’s precisely what happened to today’s guest.

In this episode of Crowdfunding Demystified, you’ll hear Salvador Briggman talk to Brian about his journey to a six-figure Kickstarter for a revolutionary product, Broombi. It’s a silicone smart broom that helps make your cleaning more effortless.

Brian’s first crowdfunding campaign failed, but he was able to attract over a thousand backers and get a staggering $128K of funding on his second try. Quite impressive, right? Well, that’s not all he did.

In addition to the successful Kickstarter campaign, he was also able to land another six-figure funding from Indiegogo. Brian will tell you about:

  • The mistakes he learned from his first Kickstarter
  • How to use both Indiegogo and Kickstarter to fund your project

But that’s not all! You’ll also get an inside look at “As Seen On TV” products and their similarities with crowdfunding.

If you’ve ever failed with a crowdfunding campaign, or you’re looking to start your very first, listening to this is a must. You get a lot of insider tips that will increase the chances of your success.

So grab a pen and a paper, and enjoy your listen.

When it comes to launching a Kickstarter campaign, the process starts long before you hit the 'Go Live' button.

What I'm talking about here is pre-launch. This usually starts several months ahead of your campaign, allowing you to build a crowd that is eager and primed to back your product the minute that you launch.

Pre-launch is one of the most important elements of any campaign. And today, I'm sitting down with a creator who reached their funding goal in just 30 minutes.

The project is called Owlbear Plush -- a stuffed animal that comes with digital integrations. It's a super unique product, and I think you're going to find the conversation to be extremely insightful.

You'll come away with strategies that you can apply to your own campaign, learning how to attract over 7,000 backers for a $385k+ raise.

Enjoy!

When it comes to running a crowdfunding campaign, there's a lot to get excited about. From prototyping to marketing to communicating with backers, many creators love the process of launching a product.

And then... there's order fulfillment.

From my experience, entrepreneurs tend to find this process tedious, overwhelming, and confusing.

Enter: Fulfillrite.

Fulfillrite has been a close partner with CrowdCrux for a while now, largely because their services are so robust: it just makes creators' lives easier.

In this episode, I'm sitting down for a lively rapid-fire Q&A with a fulfillment expert. Because at the end of the day, your campaign isn't actually successful until you've packed and shipped out those orders to all of your dedicated backers.

Hope you enjoy!

On this podcast, we talk a lot about what makes Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns successful. I believe a huge part of this is introducing you to new, innovative techniques and tools that can set you apart from the pack.

Today I've brought on the CEO of Kickfurther, an extremely promising platform that not too many people know about yet.

Kickfurther empowers creators to finance their minimum order quantities for e-commerce. It's basically crowdfunding for inventory.

The crowd finances the purchase order, and you pay them back as the inventory sells.

Pretty cool, right?

I think you're really going to enjoy today's conversation. I'm excited to share this new tool with you all! I know that I'm pumped about it.

Enjoy.

Today we're switching up the theme of the podcast a little bit -- turning to failure as opposed to success.

Why? Because through failure, we learn as entrepreneurs. We also are able to avoid pitfalls that might jeopardize the success of our campaigns.

Today I'm talking with the founder of PopTime: A Refreshingly Versatile Smartwatch that fell short of his $50,000 funding goal on Indiegogo.

We have a super candid conversation about what went wrong and how you can correct his mistakes with your own campaign.

Because at the end of the day, every successful entrepreneur fails from time to time. It's about how you bounce back.

Hope you enjoy!

When it comes to crowdfunding in 2021, there is a ton of opportunity out there for you.

In this episode, I'm giving you all the insider secrets that you need to know to achieve your goals as an entrepreneur.

Every year, I have creators that come to me saying: Sal, I have so many great ideas, I can't wait to execute on all of them!

And then, when we check in again, they haven't done anything.

This is unfortunate, but it doesn't have to happen to you. It's time to get inspired and believe in your abilities so that you can bring all your creative visions to life!

Today's question on "Ask Sal" was asked by Ali Sadat. He asked:

"How do I make the best possible crowdfunding campaign?"

Oh boy, I could write an entire book on this topic (well...I did...an ebook). Joking aside, I wanted to address this listener on the podcast.

In my answer, I'm going to reveal a lot of crowdfunding best practices and strategies. I'll talk about things like how to nail down your ideal customer and get the word out about your Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign.

I just got the chance to interview a researcher at the University at Buffalo School of Management on the factors that impact crowdfunding success.

The study's co-author, Christopher Courtney, is a Western New York Prosperity Fellow and doctoral student at UB School of Management. He brought a lot of great insights to the podcast.

In this study, the team tracked and analyzed 170,000 Kickstarter campaigns to uncover the factors that affect crowdfunding success. Specifically, they looked at the impact of your images, video, and the comments on your campaign.

This is an "Ask Sal" podcast episode, where listeners submit their questions and I answer them. Akosua Agyeman, a member of the CrowdCrux community, asked:

"Who can I rely on to help me set up a good website and cohesive social media profiles if I'm on a shoestring budget?"

Akosua is in the preparation stages of a crowdfunding campaign and she, like many other entrepreneurs, wants a professional web presence without breaking the bank.

You're about to discover some key resources that YOU can use to set up your site and social media profiles. Hope you enjoy!

Guess what!? This is an Ask Sal podcast episode, where you submit your questions and I answer them! Jeannette Goldberg, a member of the CrowdCrux community, asked: "How can I finance my degree program with crowdfunding?"

I decided to tackle this question because I think that a lot of other people are wondering this also. I'm about to go through the different ways to get donors to give to an education-related crowdfunding campaign. We'll also set some realistic expectations when it comes to online fundraising.

This episode of the podcast is a little bit different. Conor Rees of 99 Percent Lifestyle wanted to interview me about the founding story of CrowdCrux and some of the best practices when launching a crowdfunding campaign.

We were just gonna do a phone interview, but I really thought it would make a great podcast episode. He doesn't have a podcast yet, so I published this episode on my podcast!

Although I share how I started CrowdCrux, I also share a lot of actionable tips if you're preparing to launch a Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign.

On this episode of the podcast, I talked about getting funding for a veteran event and whether or not crowdfunding is always an appropriate way to raise funds.

Ronnie Terry submitted the question "I own a military cap and t-shirt store. I want to contribute products and funding to veteran events. How can I use crowdfunding to do that?"

Not only do I answer the question, but I also give some advice for growing his online store!

Sharon, with MyCanPlan.com, submitted a question on Ask Sal that I decided to address today. She asked:

“How should you promote your crowdfunding campaign when you have a small budget?”

Her product is a planner made to help cancer patients and caregivers with the daily battles of the horrible disease.

I’m about to share my advice for marketing your campaign and getting attention when you have limited resources.

Keep in mind that money is just a TOOL that you can use to purchase attention or labor. Yes, you can buy attention with ads, but YOU have to convert that attention into action.

Yes, you can hire employees or a marketing company to get the word out about your campaign, but you can also do it yourself. You just have to be willing to work.

I hope this answer helps others out there with the same question!

This is THE episode to listen to if you want to learn how to create your first prototype, find a manufacturer, and scale the business with crowdfunding.

Josh Lifton, the Founder and CEO of Crowd Supply, shared the step-by-step process for taking your first product from the idea phase to the initial prototype, and finally, how you mass produce the product.

You don't need to be an engineer to make a new product from scratch, but you do need to take several crucial steps if if you want to successfully crowdfund your business.

This episode demystifies the product development process and after listening, you'll see how to actually raise money from the crowd!

I personally have been surprised at the enormous growth of the real estate crowdfunding industry.

I think that there’s a lot of opportunity to get in on the ground floor of this exploding new sector and really re-define what’s now considered to be an ancient way of doing business.

But, I don’t have all the answers. That’s why I brought Jason Fritton on the podcast to demystify the real estate crowdfunding industry. As the cofounder and CEO of Patch of Land, he has a unique view on this growing marketplace.

Not only will you learn how Patch of Land works and how you can use it finance properties, but you’ll also get an idea of just where this industry is heading.

I hope you get a lot out of this interview!

In this episode of the "Ask Sal" segment of the podcast, I address Elizabeth's question as to how to launch a science themed crowdfunding campaign to raise money for a research study.

Getting a grant to fund scientific research is harder than ever before. Wouldn't it be cool to go directly to science supporters and raise money for a research study?

But, what do you need to know and, more importantly, what do you need to do if you want to introduce your study to the world through crowdfunding?

  • Tubestart.com and Krowdster.co are focused on solving some of the problems of mainstream platforms like rewards fulfillment and coming up with interesting rewards.
  • Brand integration (on TubeStart) is when the platform will connect project creators with brands to offer rewards that are sponsored by the brands.
  • Josef is finding new ways to integrate rewards that help crowdfunders and make the whole process much easier so they don't have to run to post office everyday to ship out merchandise or spend a lot of money on fulfilling rewards. This way they have more time to actually promote  their campaign.
  • The TubeStart platform has funded 16 campaigns with a total volume of about 130,000 in just a year and half.
  • Krowdster.co is the first big database on crowdfunding and is a promotion and analytics tool that allows crowdfunders to connect with targeted audiences on Twitter and Facebook and other social networks to promote their campaign.
  • Film and video is the second most active vertical in crowdfunding.
  • Everyone who wants to crowdfund successfully must become an online marketing expert.
